Each year offers opportunities to raise awareness about BDD and OCD—the 1 Million Steps 4 OCD Awareness Walk, the Annual OCD Conference, and OCD Awareness Week. Each involvement makes publicly visible these invisible brain disorders that cripple the lives of sufferers, their families, and friends. Collectively as a society, we are as healthy as the hardest hit of our members, so we’ve got work to do. To remove the stigma of brain disorders and to help cure them, we invite you to get involved: become a member of the International OCD Foundation, be an OCDvocate, volunteer, organize/attend a fundraising event, or make a donation.
Annual 1 Million Steps 4 OCD Awareness Walk
The 1 Million Steps 4 OCD Awareness Walk was created in 2013, the year after my pilgrimage from Cheyney, PA to Boston, MA in memory of Nathaniel, a 525-mile journey by foot. Like the original, this annual walk event builds community and raises awareness, funds, and hope. This year, we want to see how many million steps we can walk for OCD awareness together.

Synchronicity in the Harbor of Grace — Guest Blogger: Judy Sometimes the universe conspires to meet our desires. With typical foresight, weeks before the pilgrimage, Denis reserved two nights for us in the Old Chesapeake Hotel. All the other B&Bs were … Continue reading
May 24, 2013 Day 4 — North East to Havre de Grace, MD (8.75 miles, or 17,500 steps)
The day starts slowly as I resist leaving my charming hosts’ comfortable and welcoming home–chickens freely roam the yard, a white horse frolics in the open field, and “Kitty” purrs on the front porch table. The morning’s cooler weather beckons … Continue reading
May 23, 2013 Day #3 — Newark, DE to North East, MD (15 miles or 30,000 steps
The Kindness of Strangers and Friends I had my doubts about the overnight healing of yesterday’s damaged feet and spirit, but despite my lack of faith, I wake up with that get-up-and-go feeling. And I do. Super 8 proves more … Continue reading

Hey Nan! I wake up refreshed and ready to go again–a common phenomenon we experienced on the Camino de Santiago two years ago. Not wanting to be late for my first official appointment, this one at Wilmington Friends School, I … Continue reading
